How to Stay Motivated with Your 2022 Planner

Using 2022 planner can change how you approach your day, stay on track, and reach your goals. They're easy to use once you get the hang of charting out your day. Ready to get started and see results from your organizational efforts? Here's how to use your 2022 planner as part of your strategy for success.

Block out Time

Even if you love using your 2022 Planner, setting aside the time to keep up with planning can be challenging.

Block out time every day to make quick updates to your planner, or set aside a few hours to chart out months worth of tasks and goals. Pour a coffee or wine, listen to your favorite music, and get comfortable to turn your planning activity into a satisfying experience.

Piggyback on an Existing Habit

If you're struggling to block out time to update your planner, try piggybacking your task onto an existing habit. For example, when you unpack your bag at work every day, pull out your planner last and take time to update it.

Another idea is to update your planner before you head to lunch, when you get up for a water break, or when you pour your first cup of coffee. The more you associate updating your planner with an existing habit, the easier it is to stay on top of your organization and goals.

Set Obtainable Goals

Setting big goals is exciting but can also feel daunting once the gravity of how much work is in front of you. Each step can serve as a mini-goal that reaches a larger one. It's also essential not to get impatient and want to rush towards the end goal.

But even the process of writing down your goals is significant. Research shows that people are 42% more likely to achieve their goals and dreams simply by writing them down.

The progress in goal setting is just as significant as the results. Take time to appreciate your progress, the process, and how far you've come during each step.

Prioritize High-Impact Activities

Your 2022 planner is a powerful tool to stay on track and propel your goals forward. But how you organize those activities will influence how quickly you reach your goals. Start by prioritizing actions that will impact your goals, but remember to break them down into achievable steps as needed.

Splurge on Extras

Remember that using an 2022 Planner can be fun and empower your life to stay organized and on top of your goals. Splurge on colorful pens, stationery stickers, magnetic bookmarks, clips, and embellishes to turn it into a visually rewarding experience.

Celebrate Your Accomplishments

Working towards your goals, checking off tasks, and continuously updating your planner are all accomplishments worthy of being celebrated. Take a moment to acknowledge your achievements and progress. Indulge in a fancy cup of coffee, schedule a lunch with a friend, or take a long walk to relax and unwind.

Change Your Mindset

Getting your life organized and reaching your goals are empowering and satisfying experiences. Instead of approaching your 2022 planner as a chore, change your mindset and embrace it as a resource for success. The more you consider your 2022 planner a tool, the more rewarding it is to use.

How Organization Impacts Your Mental Health (and How a Planner Can Help)

How Organization Impacts Your Mental Health (and How a Planner Can Help)

If you're feeling overwhelmed by paper and clutter, you could be negatively impacting your mental health. Clutter could lead to decreased focus, confusion, and tension and may even contribute to depression. There's even research that shows clutter and chaos lead to weight gain.

The good news is getting and staying organized is within reach. Here's a look at how organization improves your mental health and sets your day-to-day up for success.

Decreases Stress

Organization

Getting organized is a compelling way to relieve stress and decrease anxiety. Instead of scrambling to remember details and find everything you need, staying organized creates more peace in your life.

A Daily Planner or Academic Planner can help by charting out your time, meetings, and to-do list to know precisely where you're going, what you need, and what your day will look like.

Improves Sleep

Put your mind at ease by creating a clutter-free room that promotes relaxation. Your organized environment creates a more relaxing setting, but it also keeps your mind calm. Without worrying about everything you need to do and how to get it done, a planner keeps all of your info in one place and off your mind.

Encourages a Healthier Lifestyle

If you're struggling to live a healthier lifestyle, the answer could be as simple as getting organized. You'll reduce stress, make better food choices, get more sleep, and feel more inspired.

Dedicate ten minutes a day to filling out your planner, getting on top of clutter, and creating space to live the healthy life you've been looking for.

Frees Up More Time

Organization

If you feel like you're always short on time, the culprit could be disorganization. Research shows that the average American wastes 55-minutes a week looking for misplaced items around their home. Instead of repeating the same scramble for lost keys and gadgets, create a system for organization success.

Dedicate a space or grab a basket for essential items. Stock up on organizational accessories from task pads to office essentials to help keep you on task.

Increases Productivity

No one enjoys feeling stressed out and behind before the workday even begins. But you can increase your productivity by staying organized. When you're not wasting time looking for old emails, papers and tracking down meeting notifications, you have more time and mental capacity to work on essential tasks.

Promotes Healthier Relationships

Our loved ones deserve our best selves, not someone stressed out and distracted. Being organized in our daily life also reduces our mental clutter. We can be more presented and vested in our personal and work relationships when there's space in our lives to focus.

Helps You Reach Your Goals Faster

Organization

Are you frustrated by how slow it is to achieve the success you want? Goal setting and achievement can feel intimidating even with the best structure in place. With a chaotic approach, it's nearly impossible to reach goals in a reasonable time frame.

Instead of white-knuckling it through the journey, make space for your purposes by organizing them in a Daily Planner.

The science is in! Neuroscience research shows that writing down your goals is strongly associated with success.

Final Thoughts

We spend so much time improving our mental health and well-being that we overlook one obvious solution: Get organized. With the right tools and resources in place, staying organized can help reduce the chaos, stress, anxiety and promote the healthier and more balanced lifestyle you want.

Stationery Letters Home Kit - History of Stationery

The History of Stationery

The average onlooker may see the paper and stationery as a rather mundane topic. But stationery lovers know the industry is so much more than office supplies, but works of art. Here's a look at how paper and the stationery industry evolved and their outlook during an increasingly digital age.

Where Did Stationery Come From?

Tracing stationery's earliest days requires going back to the creation of paper. Egyptians were known to use a papyrus plant to fashion into a solid, dried sheet.

But historians largely credit a Chinese eunuch named Tsai Lun for inventing modern-day paper when he blended the inner bark of a mulberry tree and bamboo fibers around AD100.

The word stationery refers to products sold by a stationer who had a fixed book shop near a university. A stationer's shop was where people sold books and papers, while the rest of the retail commerce was mainly sold at markets and fairs. Manuscript creation was also standing between the 13th and 15th centuries, and many people turned to stationers to bind books and borrow reading material.

Modern Day Stationery

Handwritten notes began peaking in the second half of the 19th century and turned into an art form. The world started to see more colored and lightly tinted papers, floral embellishments, and gold-lined paper.

The paper mill industry was also booming during the early 1800s in the United States. Over 180 mills created hundreds of jobs and included the use of stationery printers. As the concept of stationery has evolved, it transformed from paper indicates mass-produced materials used in writing.

Today, stationery can also encompass digitally produced materials and printables.

The Digital Age

The stationery industry experienced some bumps in the road during the digital age as more people turned to email in the 1990s. Stationery sales boomed and showed the world still craves a more formal and beautiful method to communicate. But the world also experienced digital fatigue, especially during the pandemic, as more people than ever worked online and longed for something tangible.

The Growth of Personalized Office Supplies

The rise of modern-day office supplies took shape in the 1970s with the mainstream use of word processing machines and PCs. Paper and copy centers were in demand, and the industry evolved to include more personalized and curated supplies that reflected the beauty of traditional stationery.

Curating Your Own Stationery Collection

Today's stationery collection can include everything from office supplies, home stationery, writing supplies, task management, and anything related to writing and organization. Stationery supplies are also a low investment that brings satisfaction to both the sender and recipient.

Time Management Strategies with Academic Planners

Time Management Strategies with Academic Planners

If you're struggling to implement and stick with time management strategies, you're not alone. Research shows that 82% of people do not have a dedicated time management system. Unfortunately, the stress of not having enough time can distract you from your work, studies and make you less productive. How do you know what to focus on without a system in place?

Reaching for an academic planner brings structure to your day. Here's how to use yours as part of your time management strategies for success.

Get Motivated by Completing a Few Small Tasks

If you're struggling to get work done, try tackling some smaller tasks first. Starting with your biggest tasks could lead to overwhelm and the feeling you'll never finish up your list. Answer a few emails, order new school supplies, and drop off paperwork to start your day feeling immediately productive.

Batch Your Tasks During Your Zone of Genius

Take personal inventory of your time and energy level throughout your day. You probably already know when you feel the most productive and complete the most work. Whether it's first thing in the morning or mid-day, save your focused time for your most significant tasks that require the most effort.

Jot down all of the tasks that require the most focus and schedule them for the time of day you feel like your best self. Presentations and highly engaged meetings with parents are not the tasks to tackle when you're low energy or feeling tired.

Employ Time Management Strategies for Time Voids

We all have tasks that suck away our time and energy. Those tasks could include grocery shopping, meal prepping or cleaning the house. Although necessary, they can usually be left for the end of the day or when everything else is complete.

Employ time management strategies that account for every area of your day, including time wasters. Schedule them in when your core work is done, but your energy isn't waning just yet. You could also consider hiring out tasks that take away from your earning hours. Adding a time to order Instacart to your Academic Planner, hiring someone to prep or make meals, or scheduling a house cleaner are all ways to maximize your time. But unless you plan it into your weekly routine, you're unlikely to make it a consistent habit.

Make it Visual

If you're struggling to get engaged with your Academic Planner or remembering information, consider changing up ink for different tasks. Research shows that color-coding your notes helps your brain retain the information. Adding a flourish, paperclips, or stationery stickers also makes valuable information stand out and command attention.

Factor in Downtime

Your time management systems should also include time to relax. Our brains are not equipped to work and interpret information all day. Schedule some time for a short walk, coffee break, or chat with a friend. Your mind will feel refreshed and ready to tackle the next item in your Academic Planner.

Commit to Your Time Management Systems

There's only so much your time management systems and academic planner can do without commitment. Perhaps the simplest way to commit is by making time management a habit. According to research, it takes an average of 66-days to turn something into a habit!

Make it a goal to keep up with your new processes every day for over two months to turn it into second-nature. By the time your month is up, you'll feel like a pro at managing your time and living a more productive life.

Millionaire Success Habits: Those Using Planners and Calendars are 289% More Likely to be Wealthy

Millionaire Success Habits: Those Using Planners and Calendars are 289% More Likely to be Wealthy

Money isn't everything, but financial independence and security is worth its weight in gold. We already know millionaire success habits include staying innovative, persistent, and coming to the table with something of value. But they also share some fascinating habits that all come back to organization and sticking to schedules.

Want to learn the millionaire success habits for yourself? Here are some insights on how successful people create wealth and stay on top.

Their Day Is Planned Out

The secret to wealth may be as simple as writing things down and charting out your schedule. According to CNBC, “Those who maintain both a calendar and to-do list are 289% more likely to be millionaires, as compared with those who have no real set schedule.”

They Hold Themselves Accountable

Millionaire Success HabitsMillionaires don't wait for someone to create wealth for them. They set ambitious goals, take action, and hold themselves accountable to the journey.

Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who help keep you accountable helps. Look for networking groups or meetups with other entreprenurs or financially ambitious goal-setters.

Keeping an accountability planner or journal also helps chart your progress towards success to supercharge your results.

They Know What Not to Focus On

You've probably heard of "to-do" lists, but millionaire success habits include making "to don't" lists. About a quarter, or 24% of self-made millionaires keep a to-don’t list, in addition to their to-do list. The strategy helps avoid time-wasting activities to focus on only the essential.

They Plan Their Meals

Millionaire Success Habits - Academic PlannersSelf-made millionaires tend to be frugal and aren't afraid to reign in their budget, or at least not over-indulge. The average monthly grocery expense for millionaires is just $412. Meal planning is a must when you're trying to save money or eat healthier. And millionaires are also known to eat healthier to maintain their energy and productivity.

Don't let meal planning get the best of you. Reach for an academic planner that includes an area to plan out your meals, shopping lists, and anything else you need to live a productive and healthier day worthy of a millionaire.

They Set Daily Goals

Setting weekly, monthly, and yearly goals are big wins for aspiring millionaires. Five-year plans are also a common strategy when you want to launch a business or get ahead. But you could be missing out on micro-goal setting habits. Join the scores of millionaires who also chart out daily goals. It makes sense. When you break down larger goals into small, bite-sized tasks on a daily basis, you're more likely to propel yourself to the financial success you're looking for.

They Create Time to Reduce Stress

Staying focused on our goals takes some serious persistence to reach millionaire status. Whether you're working towards a financial savings plan or launching a business, big goals are often stressful to maintain.

Millionaire success habits include scheduling time into their planner or calendar to exercise and keep their anxiety and stress in check. The results are impressive. Even a brisk walk or other simple physical activity can provide hours of anxiety relief, which research shows is similar to taking an aspiring for a headache.

They Structure Their Life Around Their Goals

Millionaires success habits including structuring life around goals. Instead of squeezing to-do tasks into their life, they shape their daily activities around their goals. Try scheduling an earlier wake-up time, tasks that impact your financial goals, fitness, diet, and meetings that all get you closer to the millionaire status you're looking for.

How to Create an Accountability Planner to Stay on Track

How to Create an Accountability Planner to Stay on Track

An Accountability Planner is more than a daily bullet list or Academic Planner. It's a way to stay accountable for your day, big picture goals, and stay on track. But how do you create a system to see success? Here's where to start.

Commit to an Accountability Buddy

Accountability Partner - Paper & Co

Research shows that you have a 65% chance of completing a goal if you commit to someone. In other words, if you tell someone your goals and stay accountable to a social circle, you're more likely to complete a project.

Ask another teacher or student to meet for a few minutes once a week to review each other's Accountability Planners or Academic Planners. Be honest about where you're struggling, if your daily routine is realistic, and make suggestions to one another on how to break through challenges and plateaus. The more you work together, the easier it gets to succeed.

Account for Small Time Windows

Teachers and students know that all of the minutes in the day count, yet time may feel wasted. Instead of struggling to find something productive to do in five or ten minutes, chart it out in your planner instead. Write-in tasks that can be done in relatively short periods:

  • Respond to X many parent/student emails
  • Take a walk outside to squeeze in some exercise time
  • Organize supplies for the next class period
  • Clean off your desk

Jotting down a list of short activities to reach for during a lull will also help you stay on track to complete more time-consuming tasks.

Batch Similar Work in Time Blocks

Time Blocking - Accountability Planner - Paper & CoYou may already know that batching time blocks to do like-minded tasks is a significant productivity hack. However, it can also you stay accountable for your big picture goals. When you work in chunks of time on specific tasks, you're more likely to complete them and add momentum to your day.

When you use an accountability planner (or an Academic Planner) to chart out your time batching goals, you're less likely to leave loose ends to your task at hand.

Give Students an Accountability Planner or Agenda

Teachers aren't the only ones who can stay organized with the help of an Academic Planner. Give your students (or require them in your yearly supplies) to bring in their own Accountability Planner or daily agenda. Even younger kids benefit from writing down their homework or upcoming projects and asking parents to sign every night.

When students are held accountable for their work with a simple process like writing it down in a planner, teachers are less stressed by communicating homework to parents and following up. The ultimate goal is for students to learn organizational and executive functioning skills while teachers have less busy work doing it all for their students.

Chart Out Your Personal Goals

Our career doesn't exist in a vacuum. We also need balance in our personal lives to maintain a healthy and productive lifestyle. Work on charting out your personal goals in your Accountability Planner, and keep it realistic. Working 12-hour days in the classroom and meeting with students or attending campus events is serious labor.

Adding on hours of studying something new or working out daily for an hour may not be realistic. Instead, chart out realistic goals in your planner from nutrition to exercise time that helps you find balance instead of overwhelms your day. It also enables you to stay accountable to those goals instead of letting your personal life fall to the wayside.

Plan for Some Flexibility

Time Blocking - Accountability Planner - Paper & CoOur days are not set in stone once students leave the classroom. Issues arise, the people in our lives need immediate attention, and suddenly projects get left undone. Add some flexibility to your day that allows a chunk of time to catch up on missed work or deal with something unexpected.

You want your Accountability Planner to help create space to stay on track. Overloading your day leads to burn-out or a domino effect where everything starts sliding off your schedule. Instead, jot down ideas for your flex time, from a quick workout to following up on a presentation with a student.

Mark off Your Tasks

It sounds simple, but marking off your tasks or the entire day helps with accountability. Suddenly you have pages of checkmarks and the satisfaction of knowing how much you've accomplished. Then, when you face challenges, you can revisit those pages of completed work to keep you motivated to push through.

Project management in education - Paper & Co

Project Management Tips for Teachers

When you think project management in education, you may think all you need is your class schedule and a standard Academic Planner to kickstart your year. But, in reality, project management impacts every corner of your life, from stress to freeing up more time. Here's a look at why project management in education is so important and how to effectively implement it for success.

Increase Efficiency

Project management in education is more than charting out the hours in your day. You also need to consider what your students are learning and what they're learning. So how does this apply to project management? Keeping track of multiple students' performance is challenging at best. You need an organized, systematized approach to project management.

Jolts & Jolts Notebook, with the help of some of our Page Flags, help keep all of your notes for each of your students organized. Grab one for every class you teach for a practical approach to project management in education.

Decrease Stress

If you're a stressed-out teacher, you're not alone. According to The Journal, 77% of teachers reported feeling stressed, 75% feel stressed, and 74% overwhelmed. Unfortunately, all of the best advice about staying organized and creating systems won't do much without a manageable plan in place. After all, you don't want your project management in education efforts to be more stressful than teaching itself.

Start by evaluating your level of comfort with the organization. For example, a "Get It Done" notepad may be all you need to get through a busy day. Or an Academic Planner with room to plan out your fitness and healthy eating goals could also help. Or you may want to include a planner with an online project management tool like Asana or Airtable to keep track of everything in your day.

Free Up More Time

If you're a teacher, you probably cringe whenever people talk about your work-free summers and short days. According to Scholastic, most teachers work nearly an 11-hour workday. This comes as no surprise to anyone working in academia.

You may not be able to squeeze any more hours out of the day, but you can free up more time by focusing on project management in education. Grab an Academic Planner and chart out your day. Remember to include your commute time, breaks, and errand-running.

Next, identify the gaps in your day. You may find you can catch on parent emails while waiting in line doing errands. Or grab an early dinner and grade papers and wrap up your work at the cafe instead of bringing it all home with you. The more you can find ways to squeeze in time by identifying what you're doing day to day, the more freedom you'll get back.

Improve Communication

Project management in communication also helps improve communication. You may find you need more than insular tools to help you stay organized—instead, sign-up for group collaboration tools like Monday.com or Slack to stay connected on one platform. Otherwise, you'll spend all of your time navigating your email inbox to piece together the project.

Collaborate Effectively

Project management in education is often collaborative and requires multiple points of view and input. Instead of managing various emails and meetings, opt for collaboration tools like Monday.com or Slack. You can communicate in real-time, set times to meet, or break out in individual Slack rooms to talk to your project's stakeholders. You'll end up feeling more organized and less stressed when you have more clarity and control over the project.

Tools for Project Management in Education

Project management tools are a must-have for any teacher or administrator. You deserve stress-free tools that empower you to do your job and shape young minds. Ready to change things up? Shop our Paper & Plan collection to organize your day with efficiency and style.

Encourage your friends and family to send letters home and stay in touch. Our limited production Letters Home Stationery is carefully crafted from recycled handmade writing paper. Each sheet of paper is individually handcrafted on a deckle and mold and air-dried so that the paper has natural deckle edges. It is then hand-rolled to give a medium texture.

The colorful pencils take an innovative twist. They're created from newspapers tightly rolled around high-quality number 2 graphite. Once sharpened, the pencil reveals a beautiful marble-like pattern.

The Secret Sauce

The Secret Sauce

Many look for “the secret” to anything they wish to achieve. Whether it be in business, fitness, relationships or any other aspect of life. ⁣

The secret sauce so many look for is such an overly simple concept that it’s nearly always overlooked. ⁣

It’s consistency.⁣

Effort put forth day after day, week after week month after month. ⁣

This consistency compounds...with interest. ⁣

Everyday you gain a little more ground, make it just a little further down the road toward your goal. ⁣

You have to live intentionally each day through your actions and efforts. You must be consistent. ⁣
Hand Written Note

When was the last time you wrote someone a letter or thank you note?

When was the last time you wrote someone a letter or thank you note? As adults lets be real- it’s nice getting something in the mail that isn’t a bill or junk mail. To see a letter from a friend arrive will always be the first thing I open. ⁣

In such an overly tech world, the tradition of putting pencil to paper has seemed to vanish. ⁣

I always say it’s “putting your time on paper”. There’s a different type of appreciation for a hand written letter. A text or email takes only seconds. The time to write a letter, address it, put a stamp on it and mail it takes that extra amount of thought and care. ⁣

Capturing that feeling and passing it along to others to show appreciation and gratitude is what inspired our Letters Home gift set. Using handmade paper & envelopes, recycled newspaper pencils this gift is nostalgic, beautiful and meaningful 🖤
